Cancellation Policy
Version 2026-08-11
Effective 11 August 2026 · Last updated 11 August 2026 · previous version
This Cancellation Policy forms part of the Terms of Service and governs how you cancel your Straightbill subscription (the “Subscription”) and when fees are refunded. Capitalized terms not defined here have the meanings given to them in the Terms.
1How to cancel
You may cancel the Subscription at any time from Settings by selecting Cancel subscription and confirming. Before you confirm, the screen states the exact date on which the Subscription ends. That date is the last day of your access, and no further charge is made after it.
You are not required to contact us, complete a survey, or wait for a response. If the cancellation control fails to operate, that is a fault on our side: write to support@straightbill.com, and we will cancel the Subscription and refund any amount charged after you first attempted to cancel.
2The remainder of your billing period
The Service continues to operate normally until the end date shown at cancellation. You may send estimates, raise invoices, and take payments without restriction during that period; giving notice does not limit the Service.
3Refunds
Fees for a period already paid for are not refunded, including where you cancel on the first day of a new monthly or annual period, and including where the account has gone unused. Cancellation stops the next charge; it does not reverse the last one. This applies equally to annual plans: cancelling during an annual term stops the next renewal, but does not refund the remainder of the term.
We will, however, refund the following without dispute:
- Amounts charged after you cancelled. Notify us and we refund them in full.
- Amounts charged in error — the wrong amount, or a duplicate charge for the same period. The same applies.
- Amounts charged because the cancellation control failed to operate. If it did not work and you were charged again, that is our fault: we cancel the Subscription and refund everything charged from the moment you first attempted to cancel.
Beyond these, we may grant a refund at our discretion where something has genuinely gone wrong. Such a refund is a matter of discretion rather than a right, and each request is reviewed by a person; write to us.
4Payments your customers make to you
This Policy concerns only the fees you pay us; it does not concern the payments your customers make to you.
When a customer pays one of your invoices by card or bank, those funds settle directly into your own connected Stripe account. The only amount we take is our flat 0.5% fee, collected at the time of payment; if you refund the customer, that fee is returned to you in proportion to the refund. Refunding a customer is otherwise a matter between you and your customer, effected from your Stripe account: we are not a party to the sale and cannot reverse a customer’s payment on your behalf or theirs. See section 5 of the Terms.
5After your account ends
Following cancellation, your data is retained for 90 days, so that resubscribing restores everything exactly as it was. After 90 days it is permanently deleted and cannot be recovered. You may export everything yourself at any point within that window, and if you request deletion sooner, we will delete it.
Links you have already sent to your customers continue to function while the account is live. Once the account is deleted, those links cease to function, so retain any invoice PDFs you require before then.
